Crystal Clear Bahamas Water

Diving on trucks I discovered

I am still IN LOVE with the crystal clear Bahamian water and swim as often as I get a chance to, although I have noticed, as many other sailors this season, that going out to enjoy water activities has become a challenge. The challenge this season has shown its ugly face as crappy weather with high winds, rain and cloud cover. Not going to lie, its very frustrating and I resort to consoling myself that it could be worse, much much worse and I could be digging out the driveway with 3 feet of snow. I looked over the weather app to discover this last storm is coming from Hatteras – Thanks Hatteras! Everyone knows that sailors are heavily impacted by weather.
Therefore I have made a concerted effort this season to get to know my fellow sailors. Last year I was too busy exploring encouraged by favourable weather with very little time left for socialising.
Being a ‘social butterfly’ has many perks. The perks are getting to meet similar like souls that you click with and although that takes much effort I’ve come to realise these many friendships are literally ‘ships that pass in the night’. One moment you are hanging out with other like minded sailors you click with and the next morning you are radioing them ‘fair winds’ (a sailors way of saying ‘goodbye’) not to see them again for months or years when your wakes cross again. This reality still beats the hell out of awkward friendships with previous land neighbours because you can’t just pick up the house and move if you find that your land neighbour is not your cup of tea.
As far as the weather goes, all my water neighbours are in the same boat. Dealing with the weather systems and at the same time attempting to fully enjoy the crystal clear Bahamian waters.
